On November 23rd, 2008 Bodee Mark Vierig was born with a left-sided Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is a life-threatening birth defect that occurs in approximately 1 in every 2500 live births and has a 50% survival rate. It involves a hole in the diaphragm of the fetus that allows intestinal organs to herniate into the chest cavity and therefore compresses the developing lungs.
