Docs still believed Bodee was strong enough for surgery so they planned on doing it early to mid afternoon. Rumor was that this was the quickest they had ever seen a CDH baby go into surgery. They like to make sure that they are strong enough to handle it and Bodee had what it took. He is such a strong little guy and has fought so hard to make continuous progress. He continues to amaze us (and everyone else) with how tough he truly is. Surgery was a success and the docs told us that the hole in his diaphragm was small enough to just be stitched up. Usually, they have to resort to using some sort of foreign body (gortex like material) to close up the hole. This can cause complications in the future so we were really happy that he just needed to be sewn up. The other great news was that all of his intestines, stomach, spline, etc was able to fit back into his belly. Sometimes this is not the case so we were excited at this good news as well. Thank goodness for my 8 1/2 lb baby!!! Next road block down...and yet another day of Bodee proving how tough he is.
