Big Sister

On the Thursday before Bodee was released, Dakota got to hold her baby brother for the first time. The look on her face when we finally said yes was priceless. She just sat back in her chair, and held out her arms like she knew exactly what she was doing...turns out, she actually did. She held him really tight and was so sweet to him. She would kiss him on the forehead and say, "I love you Bodee" and "do you know me?" It was amazing to see just how natural it came to her to just love on her little brother. She was also really quick to point out if you were being too loud with a quick "shhhh" that was always 10 times louder than anything you had said. Bodee would kind of squirm when she did it, but she would just "pet" his head and he would go right back to sleep. She even got to help dad feed him one time and did great, until she got bored. Holding a bottle for 20 minutes wasn't all she thought it would be!

This picture is of Dakota showing us that baby brothers eyes are going to be blue like hers...as she opened her eyes really wide so we could see her big blue eyes! We still see blue in them most days but some days, we still aren't sure!

The other thing we got to do for Dakota was take her to see Disney On Ice in Raleigh. I overheard a family talking about discounted tickets while we were sitting in the waiting room and knew we needed to have a night out with her. She had been so good at adjusting to our new crazy schedule that she deserved a night all to herself. We saw Cinderella before in a little "pre-show" and this turned out to be the highlight of her night. After the show, she went looking for her again and she had quite the meltdown when we told her she had gone home for the night. She got to see Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Goofy...the entire "Cars" crew, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King & Tinker Bell. It was a good thing we bought the cheap seats because she was loud enough to be heard all the way down on the ice. The cotton candy sugar overload contributed to her craziness but it was well worth it! It was a great evening out with her...she never even skipped a beat throughout our 3 weeks of craziness and for that, we will be eternally greatful.

I got your blog info from Brad and Kellie's. We are so happy to see Bodee doing so well. Way to go Bodee! Our baby girl was in the hospital for 23 days. Nayeli and Bodee almost have the same time frame on their surgeries and discharge. Here is our blog link if you want to read our story when you get a chance. http://nayelinelson.blogspot.com/
We will continue to keep updated on Bodee. We can't wait to see more pics of him. He is such a cutie!

We understand you guys taking Bodee home, but did you have to take Dakota too? Could you please bring her back? We SO miss having her around, it's crazy. I guess we sorta miss you guys too :)

Seriously, hope everything is going well with little Bodee at home. Carter continues to progress well, so hopefully we'll be seeing you guys at Mai Tai very soon.
